Mrs. Supernaw's Site

Introduction
Hello! I am Ms. Supernaw. Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to teach your child. I have been teaching at Wilkins for many years and I consider this my second home. With your support and interest in your child’s education we will make this a positive, productive, and fun year of learning. I look forward to seeing you in the building as often as possible. Please visit us often and see how your child works and learns and see the procedures we use to improve reading, writing, and math skills.
Classroom Procedures
1. Students will be given homework at least four times a week, Mon., Tues., Wed., and Thurs. Homework is due the very next day and is counted as 25% of each student’s grade. A daily homework chart is kept in the room for all students. I encourage you to check how responsible your child is being any time you visit the classroom. Please help your child find a quiet, comfortable place to work on assignments and to study. All students are required to read 25 books on his/her reading level this year. You can help by encouraging your child to read daily, let your child see you reading, and read with your child daily. The public library is a great source for reading material for the whole family. Make reading a priority!
2. Students are expected to follow classroom and school rules at all times. Wilkins’ discipline policy and the districts Code For Student Conduct will be followed at all times. Students will have many opportunities to earn rewards for their appropriate behavior as well as suffer consequences for poor behavior. When students have a good week they will leave on Friday with a treat and begin their day the following Monday with a prize of his/her choosing. If a student chooses to misbehave they will be warned. Should misbehavior continue a student could earn 5 or 10 minutes after school and/or a phone call home. If a student’s behavior is severely disruptive they will be immediately referred to the office for further disciplinary action. A daily behavior chart is kept in the room for all students. You are welcome to check your child’s behavior progress any time you visit with us.
Weekly Classroom Assignments
1. Because students in my class are working at a wide variety of levels their class and homework assignments vary greatly. If you are concerned about their work please feel free to contact me at any time. I am always happy to discuss your child’s progress. You can reach me by calling the school office at 760-1693.
